Many types of Android devices can be used to run the PVX mobile app, including most Android smartphones as well as mobile computers from manufacturers such as Zebra that are specifically designed for warehouse operations.
As a rule, we recommend using a mobile device equipped with a barcode scanner as this will usually give better performance over a smartphone. If a smartphone is to be used to scan barcodes, then we recommend that it is equipped with an autofocus camera and flashlight or an external bluetooth 'finger scanner' to help make scanning as reliable as possible.
Installing the PVX mobile app
To download the PVX app, please scan the following QR code on your device, or navigate to the URL below:
https://wms.peoplevox.net/android/updater-latest.apk
Save the application on your device.
Open the application and tap Install. This may require you to allow external software sources in the settings for your device.
Please note that the PVX Android app is not available on the Play store, and must be downloaded from the link above.
Registering your device
An Android device must be registered with PVX before it can be used within the WMS. To do this, an administrator will need to approve the device through the Mobile Devices page of the web application:
From here, you can see a list of all of the devices that have been registered, along with some key information like the serial number, model, and when it was last seen in the warehouse.
To register a device, there are two options:
Have a user attempt to log in to the system on the device first. This will create a device record on the screen here, and you can approve it directly from this grid.
Pre-register the device using the device ID. To do this, click on either the Add or Add multiple button in the top right of the grid, and enter the device ID (this is visible from the login page of the mobile application for convenience).
This list view also allows you to unregister a device if you need to revoke access to it. You can also drill into each device here to see more detail:
As you can see above, the detail page will provide you with the same summary information as the grid view, but from here you can also update the description of the device, see a list of recent logins (both successful and unsuccessful), and also view the location barcode that was most recently scanned by that device, to help you locate missing devices. Each device can also optionally be assigned to one or more sites from here, which will then allow you to filter down the list on the previous page to exclude devices that may not be relevant to you. This site assignment does not restrict the usage of the device. A device assigned to a given site can still be used in other sites as long as the user has sufficient permissions to do so.
