Release Notes - Version 5.8.4.143(103)

In this release, we're rolling out the first parts of a new "stop ship" process (more on this to come) designed to give you greater control over the orders you ship out to your customers.

We're also continuing our preparations for the 2018 peak season by driving hard on performance and stability, and we're working on some internal changes to make new releases as smooth as possible.

Enhancements

  • We've tweaked some of the Android code to sync stock takes and despatches a little faster, so stock take variances and despatch history will be visible sooner on the web app (12715).
  • We're still working on smoothing out our release process, so in this release we're making some changes that will allow us to roll out updates to your Android devices one at a time. This means that even if you run into some hiccups on one or two devices, you can still get orders out the door (12831).
  • We've made some technical changes to the despatch process - these won't have a direct impact on your despatch performance, but they're designed to make the despatch process more robust in preparation for increased volumes over peak (12923).

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug that could prevent tracking data being sent to Magento 1.x integrations (12928).

New feature: Stop ship

  • We're rolling out some new functionality to help you control your despatches. We'll be releasing this incrementally across a few weeks. For now, you'll see we've added a new checkbox called "Stop ship" to the sales order (it's available for integrations to use too) (12143, 12193).
  • Q: What does "stop ship" do to an order? A: It will prevent any user from despatching any part of that order. You'll still be able to allocate and pick it, but we'll check whether the order is blocked when anyone tries to despatch it.
  • Q: Does this affect both web and mobile despatches? A: Currently this only works for standard web app despatches, using the "Despatch" button on the Despatch tab. We'll be rolling this out to Android over the next few weeks.
  • Q: Will this impact my operation after it's released? A: Not unless you actively go and mark an order with the "stop ship" checkbox. There's no change to the pick, pack, despatch process for orders that aren't marked with the "stop ship" flag.
  • Q: Where can I see whether an order is marked with the "stop ship" flag? A: With this release, you'll be able to see this on the sales order when you view it on the web application. Over the next few weeks, we'll be adding this to the relevant searches, reports, and event subscriptions.
