Release Notes - Version 5.8.4.143(105)

In this release, we're attacking some annoying bugs that were causing pain for a number of people. We're also making the "Register" activity a little easier to use for some of the most common use-cases that we see.

Our main focus leading up to peak is still on performance, stability, and Android sync, but we're also keen to minimise disruption during the release windows. We're listening to your feedback, so thank you for working with us to help improve here.

Enhancements:

  • We've added a bit more info to the "Register" activity on the Android device. You can now ask for information on an item's current location from within the "Register" action (the same way you can during "Receive" and "Move"), so you can ensure that when you register an item into the warehouse, you put it straight into a location that's already being used to store it (3618).
  • We're changing the way our back-end reporting components are plugged together to ensure that we don't interfere with your reporting when we perform a release (12984).
  • The Android app will now double-check that you've got the latest version of the updater installed, and it'll prompt you to download the latest if you don't. We want to ensure that everyone has the latest updater to ensure we can take advantage of all of the recent improvements we've been making to the Android app release process (13221).
  • We're rewiring some parts of the replenishment process so that creating a replenishment action puts far less stress on the system. The upshot is you'll be able to create replenishment actions even in busy periods of high activity without it affecting your system performance (13245).
  • We've tweaked the way the system tracks picked items, which will eliminate the source of a few very rare errors that occasionally appeared when multiple people performed multiple picks in a very short span of time (13288, 13310).

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug that could cause some Pick transactions to be doubled-up on the Android device, which confused the app when it tried to sync these. We also fixed the bug that caused the app to crash when you tried to send feedback for this bug (11622).
  • Fixed a bug that allowed operators on the Android device to move items from a location into the same location. The app will now validate that you're trying to move to a different location before allowing you to confirm the move (12117).
  • Fixed a bug that was causing some performance problems when loading actions on the Android device (12656).
  • Fixed a rare bug that could cause the Android app to download a duplicate empty database if you manually interrupted and resumed the snapshot sync process (13248).
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the web app to display an error message when you tried to set the stop ship property on a partially despatched order. The error message was misleading (it would still allow you to set the flag) but you'll no longer see that confusing message (13249).
