Descartes® is pleased to announce the latest Peoplevox release. In this release, we are releasing a new action creation workflow (similar to creating profiles, but streamlined for creating individual batches of actions) and continuing to build out the new user activity KPI report. Below, you will find a summary of everything included, grouped by category so you can easily focus on what is most relevant to you. For any questions about specific items, please reference the associated number (if provided) when contacting Descartes Customer Support.
Migration to New UI - Locations and Location Groups
We are preparing to complete the migration to the new Locations and Location Groups page in June. The legacy Locations page will be phased out over the coming weeks.
Migration to New UI - Stock Take, Cycle Count, Variance Approval
We are continuing to roll out the new UI for web and mobile. Our current focus is on stock take and cycle count, as well as variance approval. Thank you for the feedback on the screens so far, we are currently working on the next round of improvements to those screens based on that feedback.
New Action Creation Workflow
We have a new workflow for creating individual batches of actions, similar to the popup process on the old UI. This workflow is intended to support those scenarios where you need to create a specific set of actions, but you do not need to create a full action profile to be reused later.
The menu on the left is now divided into creating specific actions, and managing profiles:
Clicking the new Create action(s) menu item will open the new workflow:
From here, you will see many of the familiar components that you already use day-to-day for creating actions and profiles.
You can select the action type, batch sizes, etc. from here, and this is also where new additional configuration will be made available in the future, for example as you can see above, the option for whether the action type should automatically convert to a one person picks one order action if it contains only a single order.
In this release, you can select from any of your pre-defined filters in this section:
Note: In-line filter editing is not currently available but is coming soon, we hope this will be ready with the next release, 26.07-02.
The Sales Orders grid below the filter will show a preview of any orders that meet those filter conditions, similar to the existing search grid.
Similarly, the Advanced Allocation section provides the same advanced controls as the legacy workflow, if your account has access to it:
Other Action Creation Improvements
🟪 It is now possible to delete filters that you no longer need. If these are filters that you have created, then they will be removed. If it is a filter that someone else has shared with you, then deleting the filter simply removes it from your list. In order to fully remove it, the owner will need to delete it.
If the filter is used on any saved action profiles, then you will need to unlink those profiles before you can delete the filter.
Other Improvements
🟨 We have extended the user activity history report to include a wide range of additional activities. You can use the report to track productivity across despatch, goods in, put away, and customization workflows completed through the mobile scan function. We are still working on adding the outstanding activities to the report, and hope to have these available in the next release. (1414222)
🟨 You can now search for shipped orders based on the barcode of the container in which they were shipped. This new option is available via the despatch search on the web application. (1448289)
🟪 We have extended the replenishment by sales orders report to include the name of the destination pick zone, to allow users to more effectively filter and batch their replenishment tasks by area. (1444896)
Resolved Issues
🟩 We resolved an issue that could cause some locations and containers on the mobile device to appear locked after performing a stock take, even after that stock take variance was handled. Those variance approvals should now correctly unlock those holders and allow users to interact with them. (1496236)
🟩 We resolved an issue that could cause some action details to remain incomplete, even when the action group itself has been completed. The actions will now be correctly marked as complete alongside the group. (1369031)
🟩 We resolved an issue with mobile despatch that could rarely prevent it from being able to see all of the relevant items in the location. It now checks to confirm that it has the latest inventory data before despatching items, to ensure that nothing is left behind. (609492)
🟩 We resolved an issue with the Sort function on mobile that could cause it to become stuck on a "Downloading data" message. (1475295)
🟩 We resolved an issue with the despatched orders view of sales orders on the web application, that could incorrectly indicate that despatched orders had not been released. Since all despatched orders have been released for picking, this column has been removed from this view to avoid confusion. (1365346)
🟩 We resolved an issue that could occasionally cause the same package number to be re-used across several packages on a despatch. (1346481)
🟩 We resolved an issue with logging in to the application for some users with certain characters or symbols in their role name. (1436188)
Preview of Changes Coming Soon
Action Creation Improvements
Action creation continues to evolve as we drive toward more configurable and more flexible options for batching orders and automating manual processes.
🟦 We plan to extend this new action creation (including the scheduling component) to other warehouse activities as well, including put away, replenishment and more in the future.
Extended User Activity Reporting
🟦 We are continuing to develop the new user activity report designed to standardize metrics across different warehouse activities. Our goal is to provide you with tools to measure performance, establish benchmarks, and track KPIs for warehouse operators.
Auto-Updating Print Client
🟦 The new version of the print client will be able to automatically update itself, which will allow us to push fixes and improvements without disrupting your operation. The initial installation will be a manual upgrade, but it will then be able to keep itself updated after that. The installation guide for the new print client, along with a link to download it, can be found here.
