Descartes Peoplevox 25.04-01 includes the New Features, Enhancements and Resolved Issues (bug fixes) described below. If you have questions about an item, please reference the number in parentheses, if available, when contacting Descartes Customer Support.

In this release, we are releasing a new feature for mobile: the option to automatically ship and generate a shipping label for items as they're picked during a 1 person picks 1 order action. We're also extending the new web app returns workflow to support the ability to capture item-level comments during the return.

New Features and Enhancements

🟨 Pick and ship (1174301)

We are introducing a new option for mobile operators, to be able to automatically pack, ship, and print a label for each item during the pick process for a 1 person picks 1 order action. This functionality is enabled by a new role-level permission called "Automatically despatch after pick". If this new permission is set, the Pick button on the mobile app changes to Pick and ship for those 1 person picks 1 order actions.

Mobile operators can now predefine required documents, such as carrier labels and despatch notes, so that items can be shipped and labeled immediately upon scanning during the pick process. This is especially useful for large or bulky items, allowing them to bypass the standard pack bench process.

The "Stop ship" flag on the order is respected by this new process, but the "Partial despatch" flag is intentionally not respected here. That flag will still block the creation of the action if the order is partially allocated, but the intent of this workflow is to ship the order across several packages, which necessitates the ability to bypass that flag during the shipping.

At the moment this functionality is limited to the 1 person picks 1 order action type, but we are keen to hear feedback on how it can be improved, and which other action types would benefit from this.

🟨 Capture comments during returns (1192208)

We are extending the web app returns workflow with the ability to capture an item-level comment during the return. This functionality was available on the legacy returns workflow, but there it was a mandatory step that was not frequently used.

With this addition to the new UI, the returns workflow now allows operators to toggle on and off the comments entry portion of the process. For operators that need to capture a comment, this can be toggled on once, and that setting will be remembered for subsequent returns. Operators can continue to navigate most of the return workflow using a barcode scanner. However, when comment entry is required, a keyboard is needed. If no additional comments are needed during the return, the workflow remains fully barcode-scanner compatible. Any comments captured during the return process are visible on the returns detail page, and these comments are also exposed to integrations that subscribe to returns events.
