Introduction to Integrations
In modern IT systems it is often desirable to exchange information between different software applications which each control separate areas of a complex operation. The mechanism by which this exchange of information takes place is known as an integration.
The PVX Warehouse Management System (WMS) provides an API (application programming interface) to allow both clients and partners to write integrations into PVX. The API is used by integrators to push data to the WMS when requested, with data being sent back in a response from PVX when necessary. For example, a third-party system sends order data from an e-commerce platform to PVX, the orders are picked, packed and despatched, and PVX notifies the third-party system of the despatch and any resulting changes in inventory. The API also allows integrators to search for data within the system and run reports, the results of which are returned on the API response.
Integrations to PVX already exist for virtually every part of the WMS. Peoplevox owns several key integrations to e-commerce platforms (Magento), online marketplaces (ChannelAdvisor) and shipping services (Metapack). Integrations to many other applications are also available from numerous sources. These are listed in the table below.
