Configuring Your Removals Process

Introduction

Removals within PVX refers to items removed from the warehouse inventory, both physically and in the warehouse management system (WMS). An item may be removed for a variety of reasons, such as because it is damaged and must be returned to the supplier, or because it is needed for another purpose (such as a promotion or a competition prize).

When an item is removed from the inventory, it is no longer managed by PVX. However, a record will be kept of the removal and the movements associated with the item during its lifetime in the warehouse. Also, the quantity of those items recorded in the WMS as being 'on hand' and 'available' will be reduced.

Removals are handled using the PVX mobile app. A removal reason must be given whenever an item is removed, and these reasons need to be set up in the PVX web app. The 'Items removed' report can then be used to analyse the quantity of items removed and the reasons.

As well as removing items, PVX also allows you to remove containers from the inventory (if you use containers in your WMS). In this case, you should also set up reasons for removing containers.

Setting up removal reasons

  1. Go to the Removals tab in the Setup module of the web app.

  2. Click Add new.

  3. Enter a name for the removal reason. This needs to be clear enough for operators to understand what situations the reason is intended to cover.

  4. Enter a barcode associated with the reason.

  5. Select the site of the warehouse(s) where the removal reason will apply from the drop-down list.

  6. Optionally, enter a description of the reason. This is not visible in the mobile app Remove screens.

  7. Click Save. The removal reason is displayed in the tab and will be available for selection in the mobile app by operators handling removals on the selected site.

Use the software that you use for printing your item and location labels to print out the barcodes for your removal reasons so that they can quickly be selected by scanning the barcode from a sheet.

You can edit an existing removal reason by clicking the reason in the tab, then clicking View and Edit. You can also delete a reason by clicking Delete in the tab.
