The PVX web app is the online user interface to the whole warehouse management system (WMS) and can be used on any PC with Internet access. During the implementation of the WMS, the web app is used by PVX specialists and warehouse managers to set up and configure all aspects of the system. Once operational, you can administer all the different functions needed to run the warehouse using the web app. It can also be used to adjust and expand the WMS according to the future needs of the business.
Logging in
To log in to the web app, you need a client ID and username (supplied by Peoplevox) and a password which you have to change to one of your choosing when you first log in.
Modules
The web app is divided into four modules, accessible from the top right of the screen.
Setup - Use this module to set up and configure the functionality that will be used during warehouse operations.
Warehouse - This is the module that you will use the most on a day-to-day basis to run the core warehouse functions.
Reporting - In this module, you can edit and run pre-defined reports and dashboards on warehouse activity or create your own (if your licence has the required options and permissions available).
Integration - This module allows the data transfer between the WMS and other software platforms to be configured. It also displays integration event logs. Your IT specialists will use this module to make sure that the WMS is able to communicate with the other software platforms needed to run the warehouse functions.
Each module (except Reporting) contains a number of different tabs arranged on a ribbon near the top of the screen. Each user who logs in to the web app is assigned a different role; this role will control the tabs that are visible in each module and whether or not the options available can be edited or simply used to run the functions. The tables below briefly describe the functions of the tabs in each module. Some tabs (marked in this article in bold italics with an asterisk *) are optional features that need to be enabled on your system; contact PVX technical support for further details.
Note: Some of the terms used in PVX have very specific meanings, such as containers, packages and locations. Refer to the glossary of terms for definitions of the terms in the software. The relevant article on each function or feature gives further information.
Setup
Note: Depending on your screen size and resolution, some of the tabs in the Setup module may only be visible by clicking the drop-down menu at the right end of the tab toolbar.
Tab |
Description |
Every user in the app must be assigned a role, which determines their access and administration rights. Users assigned certain roles (such as administrators) can create new roles and edit the permissions for existing roles. |
|
Used to administer the credentials of all users of the web app, and assign each a role. You can also view the users currently logged on to the system. |
|
Sites |
If your business needs to move inventory items between different properties, define these sites here; other locations (e.g., warehouses, aisles, etc.) within each site are configured separately in the Warehouse module. |
Removals |
Used to set up reasons for removing inventory items. |
Register Reasons |
Reasons can be defined using the Register function to record deliveries instead of using Receive. |
Skip Reasons |
Possible reasons why items cannot be picked can be assigned codes in this tab; these can be used in the Warehouse module to record the reason for a failed picking operation. |
Unpick Reasons |
Possible reasons why a picking operation has to be reversed are defined in this tab; these can be used in the Warehouse module to record the reason that an order is unpicked, such as a cancellation, and indicate whether the items can be resold. |
Return Reasons* |
Possible reasons why items are returned can be assigned codes in this tab; these are used in the Warehouse module to classify returned items. |
Returns States* |
These states are used to record the condition of a returned item and whether or not it can be resold. |
Document Types |
Define and categorise the document types (asset labels, despatch orders, etc) used in the WMS and allocate a specific printer and print template to each. |
Use this tab to assign printers to specific sites, view the jobs being sent to the printers on the system and delete or postpone print jobs. |
|
Everything printed from the WMS needs a template. Upload, search and configure print templates, and choose the information you want to display in the document. |
|
Define when and why a particular print template is used for a print task. For example, you may want to use a different sales order template for each destination country. |
|
Units |
Use this tab to define the unit types (e.g., boxes, crates, etc.) used to store products. |
Packages |
Set up dimensions, weights and capacities of packages that can be assigned to despatches or used to store specified numbers of product items. |
Storage Types |
Spaces in the warehouse can be defined in this tab, both in terms of their dimensions and the number of packages that can be stored in them. This helps with put-away operations. |
Warehouse
Tab |
Description |
Suppliers |
Create suppliers that can be assigned to purchase orders so you can keep track of who is supplying your inventory items. This tab is not used if purchase orders are imported from an ERP system. |
Purchase |
Use this tab to import purchase orders from an ERP system, and then manage them through the good-in process in the web app. |
Customers |
Details of customers can be imported from an e-commerce system and then assigned to a sales order. They can also be add manually and managed through this this tab but this is often not used if sales orders are imported from an e-commerce system. |
Sales |
Use this tab to import or manually enter sales orders, and then manage their fulfilment from allocation through to despatch. |
Items |
This tab lists all the items in your product range (categorised into item groups), together with their locations and inventory levels. Standard units of measure for the items can also be defined here. |
In this tab you can set up the hierarchy of location categories in your warehouse (e.g., shelf 3 in aisle 2 of zone 1). This provides the 'map' for finding the locations themselves (the container in which the items are stored). |
|
Containers are moveable objects in the warehouse that contain inventory items, such as pallets, roll cages and tote boxes. This tab allows you to create a container and set its size, contents and location, and then produce reports on its history and inventory at any time. |
|
Use this tab to receive goods by item or purchase order, or create a goods-in record and then reconcile it with a purchase order. |
|
Create and assign actions to pick items for one or more sales orders or to replenish inventory and view failed actions. |
|
Carriers |
Information on your carriers and the services they offer can be imported via your carrier integration. |
Despatch |
Use this tab to despatch sales orders that have been picked. |
Returns* |
Use this tab to record returned items with a Return Reason and State and the location where they are placed. |
Stock Take |
This tab shows the results of stock take activities at specific warehouse locations and the associated variance reports which must be accepted or rejected before the location can again be used for picking. |
Use this tab to adjust inventory levels based on the results of stock takes or failed pick actions. |
Reporting
The layout of the Reporting module is a little different, with dropdown lists in the pane on the left of the screen. Users can view and run reports and dashboards, and those with certain roles can create, edit and delete report and dashboard templates.
Drop-down list |
Description |
My Reports |
Access, edit and delete reports that you have created, or system reports that you have saved as personal reports. |
Shared Reports |
Access reports that have been shared with you as a user or with all users assigned to the same role. |
System Reports |
Access all pre-defined reports on the system. You can save these as personal reports or share them with other users (depending on the permissions in your role), but you cannot edit or delete them. |
My Dashboards* |
Create, edit and delete your own dashboards. |
System Dashboards* |
Access pre-defined dashboards on the system. |
Integration
Tab |
Description |
Integration Templates |
Allows you to firstly configure a template using a *.csv file as a model, and then import or export data to or from the WMS using this template. |
Event Logs |
Displays all the communication events across the integrations on the system since midnight of the same day. |
Carrier Integrations* |
Add details of integrations to the carrier software needed for your despatches, such as the document types and print templates to be used. |
