Introduction
Metapack is a leading supplier of shipping, tracking and returns services to e-commerce businesses.
PVX has an in-house integration to Metapack. This integration is distinct from those of Magento and ChannelAdvisor as it only relates to shipping. It allows PVX to place orders for shipments with a carrier and automatically prints the required labels at your despatch bench.
Setting up and using the integration
Contact PVX by raising a ticket to obtain a link to the Metapack Data Capture Form.
Complete the form and return it to your PVX technical support assistant. You need to complete a separate form for each PVX account that you hold. The integration will then be set up, and the print templates for the despatch package and label will be uploaded to your account.
Create a new user in your PVX account called 'Metapack Test User', making sure that the user's role includes the permission of Upload Carrier but does not include Download Carrier.
Set up a ZPL-compatible printer in the PVX Printer Service as a Generic printer.
Create document types for each Metapack template so you can apply print template rules to them.
If required, create and upload a despatch note template and register it in PVX as a Despatch Package print template. You will also need to create a document type for this template.
At this point, you should carry out the following operations in Metapack:
Create the required Service Groups, making sure that their codes do not contain any special characters that might not be accepted by Metapack.
Ensure that the required allocation rules are valid.
Refer to the on-screen Help provided by Metapack for further information.
Now complete the final preparations in PVX:
-
Set up Metapack as a carrier in PVX, and create Metapack service types to match those available to customers on your e-commerce sales platform:
Go to the Carriers tab in the Warehouse module of the PVX web app.
Click Add new.
In the Edit Carrier dialog, enter the Name as Metapack.
Click Add alongside Service Types.
Enter a Name and a Code for the service type, and then click Add. Make sure that the codes match those of each service group in Metapack.
Click Save.
Configure the permissions for all users of your account so that each has the Upload Carrier option enabled.
Log in to PVX as the Metapack Test User and test all your despatch processes using different service types, carriers, product items and destination countries. Check that there are no issues with the consignment and allocation processes. Despatch using either Despatch by order or Despatch by item. Your Metapack label will print automatically if the integration is configured correctly.
Configurable fields
The options for mapping data between PVX and Metapack are limited. We allow the following fields to be mapped to specific Item Attributes:
Attribute number for harmonised product code: the HS code is based on the Harmonised System. In Singapore, the HS code of goods is an 8-digit code. It is also known as the ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) code and is harmonised at the 8-digit level across all ten ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) member countries.
Attribute number for fabric content: fabric content is the type of material which has been used to make the item.
Attribute number for country of origin: this is not the shipping country but the country from where the despatch is performed.
Attribute number for product type description: this could be the item name in PVX.
Sales order attribute number for service code: the carrier service code used by Metapack.
Sales order attribute number for currency: a sales order attribute which will store data that will go to the Currency field in Metapack.
Sales order attribute number for company name: a sales order attribute which will store data that will go to the Company field in Metapack.
In order to have these fields mapped, please raise a ticket with the PVX helpdesk and confirm the attribute number for each of the available lines you intend to use. Mapping of fields other than those listed above has to be raised with the helpdesk by using the "I want to raise a feature request" option.
