Peoplevox

Shopify Integration (via Descartes Marketplace Connector)

Peoplevox integrates with Shopify through Descartes® Marketplace Connector (DMC), which synchronizes inventory, orders, and shipping status between the two systems. This page covers connecting and configuring the integration, what triggers a sync from the PVX side, and how to monitor and troubleshoot it.

Note: Shopify can also be integrated via third-party partners (Zynk, Patchworks, VL Omni) — see Partner Integrations Available for PVX. This page covers the Descartes-built option.

Setting Up the Integration

To connect your Peoplevox installation to Descartes Marketplace Connector:

  1. In Descartes Marketplace Connector, go to Settings > eCommerce Integrations > Create eCommerce Integrations.

  2. Enter a name for the integration.

  3. On the Type dropdown, select Peoplevox to display the General page.

  4. Enter the Client ID — the unique identifier for your Peoplevox account (for example, SW1234).

  5. Enter the API Base URL.

  6. The username and password should already be filled in. The user specified must have admin permissions — edit those fields if needed.

  7. Click Test Connection to verify the connection.

  8. Click Save Integration.

To display the configuration page for the integration afterward, go to Settings > eCommerce Integrations > eCommerce Integrations and click the Peoplevox line item.

Configuring the Integration

Shipping Service Types

Map each Marketplace Connector shipping service to the corresponding Peoplevox shipping service on the configuration page's Shipping Service Types area. Click Auto Generate Services to have Peoplevox select the services that correspond logically, or map them manually.

Step

What happens

1

Shopify tells Descartes Marketplace Connector the shipping service is, e.g., Free Delivery (Dispatched Within 2-4 Working Days).

2

Descartes Marketplace Connector assigns an internal service name to it, e.g. TPSN.

3

When the order passes to Peoplevox, TPSN maps to the mapped Peoplevox service, e.g. Pro Carrier: Royal Mail Tracked 48 No Signature.

4

PVX shows the mapped service name — Royal Mail Tracked 48 No Signature.

Email Alerts for Errors and Warnings

In the configuration page's Alerts area, choose whether to receive email alerts for errors and warnings, only errors, only warnings, or no emails, and list the recipient email addresses.

Synchronizing Orders and Catalog Data

In the Orders area, click Sync Orders and set an Orders Sync Frequency for automatic synchronization (or select "-disabled-" to turn it off). A single order can be synced by entering its Marketplace Connector Order ID and clicking Sync. Orders or line-item products can be excluded from sync by tag.

In the Catalog area, click Sync Products and set a Products Sync Frequency the same way. The Product Name Format dropdown controls whether the catalog shows only the name or name and SKU.

Catalog and Order Attributes

Up to 15 catalog attributes and 5 order attributes can be configured, each mapping a custom field or product/order detail to a value. Up to 3 order detail attributes can also be configured.

Mapping Sites (Warehouses)

Warning: Avoid modifying site configuration without proper knowledge.

The Sites area lists Marketplace Connector warehouses, sourced from Shopify. Map a Peoplevox warehouse to the corresponding Marketplace Connector/Shopify warehouse using the dropdown. If a Shopify warehouse doesn't appear in the dropdown, click Add Warehouse and enter its exact name.

Warning: If multiple stores feed into Peoplevox, ensure there are no duplicate SKUs or barcodes across the products entered via integration — this can cause other integrations to malfunction if the data is later updated to other values.

Return Reasons

Map each Marketplace Connector return reason to the corresponding Peoplevox return reason in the Return Reasons area, or click Auto Generate Reasons to generate logical mappings.

Event Subscriptions

In the Event Subscriptions area, click the plus-sign button, select the event and a site filter, then click Subscribe. Webhooks are pre-populated — verify they point to the correct store and warehouse, especially in a multi-store setup.

What Triggers a Sync from PVX

These are the PVX-side actions that trigger communication to Descartes Marketplace Connector.

Inventory Adjustments

Inventory adjustments made via stock takes (cycle counting) or the Adjustments tab sync to Descartes Marketplace Connector. To adjust inventory, click Select, find the item, and select the location — typically a picking location. If a search for the item at that location returns no results, the item doesn't yet exist there; click Add to add a quantity.

Despatching

Despatch has two separate triggers:

  1. Add a picking action and pick it via the mobile app, then on the Despatch tab click Despatch, enter the sales order number and SKU, and click Pack.

  2. Select a carrier and service type, then click Despatch.

Warning: Adding the tracking number is a separate webhook response from the rest of the despatch. If you forget to add it during despatch, you cannot go back and add it afterward.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting

The Integration Log

To view integration history, including errors, warnings, and activity: on the integration's configuration page, scroll to the Integration Log at the bottom. Each entry shows an ID and a level (Info, Error, or Warning). Click an entry to see its full request and response codes. Use Refresh Table to pick up new activity while troubleshooting, and Filter to narrow the log by level or by text in any column. To export, select the entries (or clear all filters to export everything) and click CSV Export.

Common Errors

  • Duplicate entry: a database key conflict. Escalate to development.

  • Barcode conflict: the product exists in Peoplevox under a different item code. Ensure all barcodes are unique.

  • Order not found: the order was canceled or deleted. No action needed.

  • Item not synced: usually a duplicate barcode or SKU.

  • Partial order modification: Descartes Marketplace Connector received a Shopify update it couldn't fully apply because items were already picked or despatched.

  • Error fetching HTTP headers: usually a non-issue — verify the integration is still working.
