Descartes® is pleased to announce the latest Peoplevox release. In this release, we are making several technical improvements to the back-end that supports both the web application and action creation. Below, you will find a summary of everything included, grouped by category so you can easily focus on what is most relevant to you. For any questions about specific items, please reference the associated number (if provided) when contacting Descartes Customer Support.
Migration to New UI - Stock Take, Cycle Count, Variance Approval
We are continuing to roll out the new UI for web and mobile. Our current focus is on stock take and cycle count, as well as variance approval. If you have not done so already, please check out the latest versions of both stock take and variance approval, and let us know if you have any questions or concerns so that we can address them before the legacy workflows are deactivated.
Action Creation Improvements
🟪 During action creation, you can now filter orders by the stop ship flag on the order. This enhancement helps reduce the likelihood of including orders that may be blocked from picking during the action. (1465809)
Other Improvements
🟪 The new PVX+ variance approval workflow on mobile now supports multi-select, allowing operators to approve multiple variances at once. This functionality is intended for rare edge cases, as most variances are either small enough to be auto-approved through the new approval thresholds or large enough to require individual review. (1433853)
🟪 The web application locations tree view now supports printing location labels directly from the tree. This allows you to quickly print batches of labels for entire sections of the warehouse at once:
You will be prompted to confirm that they want to proceed before printing, to avoid accidental printing of hundreds of labels at once:
User Activity History Report
🟪 The first preview of the new User Activity History report is now available. This report is still under active development. Please be aware that we will be improving and iterating upon it. In this first release, it will support time tracking for web app returns, with more activities coming soon in future releases.
The report is intended to provide warehouse managers with granular user performance information, broken down by activity, web vs mobile, down to the individual user session. Some key points on the report:
The session identifier represents the specific instance of the user's session. If they log out (or their session expires) and then log back in again, they'll be given a new session identifier.
The logout timestamp may not be immediately visible, depending on how the user's session ends. If their session expires due to inactivity, then this will be automatically updated within the next 24 hours to the actual time that their session ended.
The raw data presented on the report here is intended to be very granular, but we expect many users to group and aggregate this information to see session-wide summaries. For example, each row on the sample above indicates a single return activity. To see a representative sample of the entire session, you can group by the session identifier, and sum the total duration and units processed.
We're still experimenting with exactly how to capture the start and end times of each activity, particularly for workflows that are often looped one after another. At the moment, the start timestamp is captured as soon as the operator scans the RMA number or sales order number to begin the return, and it ends as soon as they save the return.
Resolved Issues
🟩 We resolved an issue with the mobile Pick and Ship workflow that could prevent the despatch of orders if any order in the action had the stop ship flag applied. The validation is now applied to the specific items that may be affected by the stop ship flag instead, which allows operators to safely pick and ship other products in the action. (1448992)
🟩 We resolved an issue with the mobile application that could cause some locations to become locked as though a stock take had been performed on them. We are monitoring the fix to ensure that it does not reoccur. (1448992)
🟩 We resolved an issue with the previous release, which caused the on hold flag for sales orders to behave strangely for some web application users. (1476041, 1476284)
🟩 We resolved an issue with some information not being visible on the despatch summary report for some users. We have resolved this by enabling a new back-end mechanism to ensure that data is correctly synchronized with the report, which should mitigate any future issues caused by temporary network interruptions around reporting. (1443564)
🟩 We resolved an issue that could cause some pick actions to be deleted when the on hold flag was applied to the order. The action will now be preserved in these cases. (1339671)
🟩 We resolved several issues with the PVX+ Register function:
The search input field was occasionally hidden as a result of the soft keyboard - the input is now correctly displayed at the top of the screen (1457709)
The search now allows users to look up items by product name as well as item code and barcode (1455693)
The screen now warns the user if they are about to leave and would lose progress on their current activity (1457350)
🟩 We resolved an issue with quick despatch that could cause some items to appear duplicated. (1416076)
🟩 We resolved an issue with database deadlocks during picking, that could occasionally lead to the user being prompted to scan additional items at despatch. (1444931)
🟩 We resolved an issue that could cause some API calls to fail if they contained special Unicode characters. (1420094)
Preview of Changes Coming Soon
Action Creation Improvements
Action creation continues to evolve as we drive toward more configurable and more flexible options for batching orders and automating manual processes.
🟦 We plan to extend this new action creation (including the scheduling component) to other warehouse activities as well, including put away, replenishment and more in the future.
Extended User Activity Reporting
🟦 We are continuing to develop the new user activity report designed to standardize metrics across different warehouse activities. Our goal is to provide you with tools to measure performance, establish benchmarks, and track KPIs for warehouse operators.
