Scan (Mobile)

How to Install the Scan Function

The scan function is the first feature to make use of the new PVX+ framework. When you tap on the scan feature in the mobile app menu, you will be taken to the PVX Updater app that will download the feature.

The new PVX+ framework runs as a separate app that sits alongside your existing app.

You do not need to manually switch between the two apps. They share the same menu, and when you select an activity, you will automatically be taken to the correct app.

The first time you use this feature, you may be prompted to log in again.

Scanning on the Mobile App

The scan function on the mobile app allows you to check a barcode in the warehouse and view any relevant information about the object it represents.

To use the scan function, select it from the navigation drawer on the left-hand side of the mobile app.

From there, you will be prompted to scan a barcode.

Supported Barcode Types

Scan currently supports the following barcode types:

  • Sales orders

  • Locations

Note: Other barcode types may be supported in the future. Please use the Descartes ideas portal to let us know which barcodes you would most like to see next.

Detail Pages

After scanning one of those barcodes, the app will display a detail page with information related to it. For example, scanning a location:

Each detail page may also contain links to related records. In the example above, the barcode represents a despatch location. The app allows you to view any sales orders that have been picked into it, as well as the individual items themselves, and also a list of any containers that might be in the location.

You can tap on one of those sections to expand it and see a list of those records:

And from there you can tap on any one of those entries to see the corresponding detail page.

Printing

Some detail pages will offer context-sensitive buttons. From the sales order, you have the ability to print a sales order template.

To print a sales order, select the printer you want to use to print, and the template that you want to print.

Selecting a terminal will filter the list of templates and show you the ones compatible with the selected printer.

Active terminals are displayed with a green dot alongside them. Inactive printers have a red dot.

After selecting the printer and template, the print button becomes active. You can also select how many copies you want to print.
